Definition of Grades
The work of all students on the Berkeley campus is reported in terms of the following grades:

The grades A, B, C, and D may be modified by plus (+) or minus (-) suffixes.
Grade Points
Grade points per units are assigned as follows:
A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1
F=none
When attached to the grades A, B, C, and D, plus (+) grades carry
three-tenths of a grade point more per unit, and minus (-) grades three-tenths of a grade point
less per unit than unsuffixed grades, except for A+, which carries 4.0 grade points per unit as does the A.
Courses graded P, NP, S, U, I, IP, or NR are not used in
computing the grade-point average.
