[Classroom Central]
The Classroom Central "hotline" is part of the Classroom Scheduling Office in the Office of the Registrar.
Students, faculty, and staff may report problems with general assignment classrooms directly to the
"hotline" at hotline@uclink4.berkeley.edu or 642-2800.
Classroom Central is a link between the users of general assignment classrooms and the administrative
offices responsible for general assignment classrooms. A few of the responsible units are: Office of the
Registrar's Classroom Scheduling Office, Physical Plant-Campus Services, and Educational Technology and Services. The
Classroom Central staff notifies the appropriate office(s) to solve reported classroom problems or refers
you to those who can help. All general assignment classrooms have a blue and gold sign posted near the door
or chalkboard with the phone numbers for Classroom Central, Classroom Scheduling, and the Educational Technology and
Services giving the following information:
To arrange for video, overheads, etc., contact the Educational
Technology and Services at 643-8637.
To schedule a classroom for a one-time event or to request
a room change for an academic course, contact
your department scheduler. (If you don't know who
that is, you may call Classroom Scheduling at
642-0313 for that information.)
To report problems with the physical aspects of the
classrooms, call the Classroom Central "hotline"
at 642-2800 or
In conjunction with Physical Plant, we assess the working order of classrooms (including chalkboards,
window shades, projection screens, ventilation, etc.) during scheduled classroom inspections. We facilitate
speedy remedies for urgent classroom deficiencies such as locked doors, missing chalk, or broken
chalkboards. We respond to complaints about classrooms by referring problems to the appropriate campus
agencies and making sure that solutions are executed in a timely manner.
We hope you find your classrooms in good repair and that you won't need to contact us, but we stand by waiting
to help.
