Transcript FAQs


 
1. How long will it take for my transcript to be mailed?

Standard requests will be mailed first-class through the U.S. mail within 3-5 business days of receiving the request. When placing an order, please factor in 3-5 days for the Registrar to fulfill the request as well as several more days for the transcript to be delivered by the US Postal Service. 2. When are grades posted to the transcript?

Final grades are posted to the transcript approximately four weeks after the last day of final examinations.

3. Why was my transcript request denied or returned?

Students who have a financial obligation to the University may be blocked from receiving a transcript. Please contact:

4. How can I confirm receipt of my transcript request?

An email confirmation will be sent within 72 hours of a standard request and within 24 hours of a special handling request.

5. When are degrees posted to the transcript?

Degrees are posted approximately three months after the end of the term.

6. Can I get confirmation that I graduated earlier than the three-month period it takes to post degrees?

Undergraduates may order a Certificate of Completion approximately one month after end of the term.

Graduates should contact the Graduate Division.

7. How can I get an unofficial transcript?

Current students may request an unofficial transcript on Bear Facts by selecting All Grades.

8. How can I get my GPA or find out how many units I've completed?

Current students may get GPA and completed units on Bear Facts by selecting All Grades. Alumni, former students and current students can also get this information by ordering a Verification of Attendance and Degree.

9. May I have someone else request and pick up my transcript for me?

Students may designate a proxy to order transcripts by submitting written authorization. Include 2 documents: (1) a transcript order form and (2) a statement signed by the student authorizing the ordering of the transcript by the proxy. Include proxy name as it appears on his or her official identification. The proxy must go in person to Student Services, 120 Sproul Hall, with official identification, the order form, a copy of the student driver's license or state ID, and the signed release. The transcript can only be mailed to an institution not to the student.

Note: The proxy may not pick up the transcript.

10. Can my transcript be sent by e-mail or electronically?

Transcripts cannot be sent via e-mail. Berkeley does not currently participate in electronic transcript exchange.

11. Can I request a transcript on Bear Facts after I graduate?

Access to Bear Facts is only available to current students but will remain open until the end of the next semester after graduation . Students who have graduated may also request transcripts online through a special alumni service.

14. How do I order a transcript for a deceased relative?

You can request a transcript by submitting the  transcript order form, along with a copy of an obituary or death certificate. There is no charge for the transcript.
