Verification of Degree or Attendance

The UC Berkeley Official Verification of Attendance and Degrees is the University’s official verification document.  These are most commonly used for proof of registration, verification of degrees earned, confirmation of full-time or part-time registration status, loan deferment information, etc.

The Office of the Registrar will mail an Official Verification of Attendance and Degrees to the address of your choice for a postage & handling fee of $3.00 per copy.

Current Students

You can request a mailed copy of an Official Verification of Attendance online. The postage & handling fee for online orders is charged directly to your CARS account. See below for Third-Party Forms.

In order to see your GPA and completed units, select All Grades on Bear Facts.

Incoming Students

If you are a new student, you cannot request a an Official Verification of Attendance unless you are registered, which means you are enrolled in courses and have paid at least 20% of your registration fees. Once registered, you order a Verification of Attendance online.

Alumni & Summer-Only Students:

Alumni & summer-only students can also get this information but must download a Request for Verification of Attendance & Degrees by ordering a Verification of Attendance and Degree. Request Verification

Third Party Verification of Attendance / Degree

Third parties who are interested in verifying a student's attendance or degree can do that through the National Student Clearing House.

NOTE: The National Student Clearinghouse will be unavailable from 8pm ET on Friday, October 9, through 6am ET Monday, October 12.

Third Party Forms

The Office of the Registrar will complete and certify third-party forms requiring any or all of the information
listed below for a special processing fee of $6.00 per document.  Your form will be mailed or faxed to the
destination of your choice within 3-5 business days.
 
The Office of the Registrar will complete and certify third-party forms that require information different
from or in addition to that listed above for a special processing fee of $15.00 per document. Your form will
be mailed or faxed to the destination of your choice within 3-5 business days. 

What is On The Official Verification of Attendance and Degree

It bears the university seal and the signature of the registrar, includes all the information listed below as well as some optional information upon request.  It is printed on security paper that cannot be copied or faxed and is difficult to alter or forge.  An Official Verification of Attendance and Degrees is available free of charge at the service counter in 120 Sproul Hall and no forms are required. 

The basic verification information includes:

• Student name;
• College;
• Major(s);
• UC Berkeley school code;
• Degree(s) earned at UC Berkeley;
• Degree date(s);
• Term(s) enrolled;
• Beginning and ending dates of term(s) enrolled;
• Enrollment status for term(s) enrolled; and
• Semester units carried for term(s) enrolled.
