Accessing Tele-BEARS
All students are assigned appointments for accessing Tele-BEARS each semester. You have separate appointments for Phase I and Phase II. These appointments are randomly assigned on a priority basis. Access during the Adjustment Period is by the first letter of your last name and/or your student status. To determine your Phase I and II appointments, go to Bear Facts. To determine when you can access Tele-BEARS during the Adjustment Period, see "Tele-BEARS Calendar."
You need to log on to Tele-BEARS with your CalNetID and passphrase (see "Your CalNet ID and Passphrase" page). If it's during Phase I or II and your appointment hasn't yet started for that phase, you won't be able to enroll in classes. If your appointment has expired, you can only access Tele-BEARS during Open Hours, which are 7:00 am to 8:00 am and 7:00 pm to Midnight, Monday through Friday, and Noon to Midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
Some students must also enter an Adviser Code (AC) before using Tele-BEARS the first time for a semester. The Tele-BEARS appointment screen on Bear Facts indicates whether an AC is required or not. See "Academic Advising and Adviser Codes" for more information.
Special Information for New Undergraduates
If you are a new undergraduate, you will receive your Phase I appointment and Adviser Code (AC) directly from the Office of New Student Services. (You can only see your Phase II appointment on Bear Facts.) You are strongly encouraged to attend a CalSO orientation session, where you can get this information and enroll in classes. If you are unable to attend a CalSO session, please notify them via their website; your Tele-BEARS appointment and AC will be made available via the website at a later date. (You will be notified by e-mail when they are available.) For more information, contact the Office of New Student Services at 510.642.4970 or askcalso@berkeley.edu.
Special Information for New Graduates
You are only able to use Tele-BEARS beginning with Phase II, shortly before the start of the semester. You should meet with your major adviser to obtain your Adviser Code (if required) as soon as your Phase II appointment has been generated (see the Student Calendar).
Usage Limits
You can access Tele-BEARS up to 40 times during Phase I and 40 times during Phase II. You may access the system up to 80 times during the Adjustment Period. If you have reached the maximum number of sessions and you still need to use Tele-BEARS, contact the Office of the Registrar, 120 Sproul Hall, at 510.644.9181 or orreg@berkeley.edu.
