Official Verification of Attendance and Degrees
The Official Verification of Attendance and Degrees is UC Berkeley’s official verification document. It bears the university seal and the signature of the University Registrar, and is printed on security paper. It is commonly used for proof of registration, degrees earned, and full-time or part-time registration status. Such proof is often required for student loan deferments, insurance discounts, and eligibility for grants and scholarships, etc. Official verifications include the following information:

Degree(s) earned at UC Berkeley;

Term(s) enrolled;

Beginning and ending dates of term(s) enrolled;

Semester units carried for term(s) enrolled.
Most verifications are provided over the counter in 120 Sproul Hall, or sent via 1st class mail. There is no fee for this service.

Current Students
You may request an Official Verification of Attendance online. Or visit Cal Student Central, 120 Sproul Hall, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no fee for this service.
If you have a specific form you wish to have completed, see Third-Party Forms below. If you wish to check your GPA and completed units before requesting verifications, select the All Grades option under the Academic Records tab on Bear Facts.
Incoming Students
You must be fully registered before we can verify your attendance. This means you must be enrolled in courses and have paid at least 20% of your tuition and registration fees. Once registered, you may request an Official Verification of Attendance online. Or visit Cal Student Central, 120 Sproul Hall, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no fee for this service.
Alumni & Summer-Only Students
Alumni and summer-only students may obtain an Official Verification of Attendance and Degrees by completing a Request for Verification form and submitting it to Cal Student Central, 120 Sproul Hall, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Alternatively, you may mail your request to the address below. Your verification will be sent 1st class mail to the destination of your choice within 3-5 business days. There is no fee for this service.

You may also obtain a degree or attendance verification online through the National Student Clearinghouse. However, this vendor charges a fee for verifications.

Employers and other third parties who are interested in verifying attendance or degrees for UC Berkeley students or alumni can do so through the National Student Clearinghouse. This vendor charges a fee for verifications.
Third Party Forms
The Office of the Registrar will complete and certify third-party forms requiring any or all of the information included on an Official Verification of Attendance and Degrees (listed above). Your form will be sent 1st class mail to the destination of your choice within 3-5 business days. There is no fee for this service.

Services in addition to those described above are available for a special processing fee of $10. For the services described below, complete a Request for Verification form and submit it in person to Cal Student Central, 120 Sproul Hall, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or mail it to:

Third-Party Forms with specialized information
The Office of the Registrar will complete and certify third-party forms that require information different from or in addition to that listed above for a special processing fee of $10 per document. Your form will be mailed to the destination of your choice within 3-5 business days.
Customized Verification Documents
The Office of the Registrar will create and mail a verification document other than an Official Verification of Attendance and Degrees for a special processing fee of $10 per document. Your verification will be sent 1st class mail to the destination of your choice within 3-5 business days.
Notary Services
The Office of the Registrar will notarize UC Berkeley official transcripts, diplomas or verification documents for a special processing fee of $10 per document. We make arrangements to have documents notarized twice a month on the business day nearest to 1st and 15th of each month. Up to 15 days may elapse before notarized documents can be sent via 1st class to the address of your choice.
Express Shipping
Express shipping of your verification document is available at the rates shown below. In addition to the cost of shipping, there is a $10 special processing fee for this service. We cannot accept credit card payments. Make your check or money order payable to UC Regents.
