The above dates apply to continuing nonresident UC Berkeley students seeking residency classification. Petitions are available via Bear Facts on the date that filing begins. Petitions received in our office after the filing ends date will be denied; no exceptions will be made.

 *The documentation deadline applies to the submission of documents after you have submitted your online petition and we have requested for documents. Please submit all documents requested.  Incomplete records results in a delay in residence determination.  If you do not submit all requested documents or do not respond to our requests, you may be held responsible for the assessed non-resident supplemental tuition.

^ The residence determination date (RDD) is the date by which the Residence Affairs Unit begins evaluating for residency.  (For example, the RDD of August 28, 2014 equates to a 366-day time period of August 27, 2013 to August 28, 2014 for evaluating physical presence and intent.)  The RDD is typically the first day of instruction of the term for which a student is applying for residency.

 

IMPORTANT: Students who have not been classified as of the registration fee payment deadline are liable for payment of their total assessed registration fees. For payment options, please see the Billing & Payment Services website.
