Midterm vs. Final Grades
In general terms, midterm grades will never appear on a student's record and are only to alert an undergraduate student to poor performance in a class. Final grades are those assigned at the end of the semester, are permanent, will show on a student's transcript, and will calculate into a student's GPA (except in the case of overlap of credit with another course or multiple repeats of classes).
Midterm grades apply to undergraduate students only.
If an undergraduate in your class is performing at a D, F, or NP level, you must report this on-line during the eighth week of the semester. These grades are called midterm status grades. You can enter these through eGrades and students will be able to see them during the ninth week of class. Their purpose is to give students in your class notice about their status so that they can take action to seek help, improve their grade, or change their grading option to NP from a letter grade.
