Common Questions with eGrades
I don't have all the grades for my students.
You cannot submit grades until you have grades for all students. If you will not be able to enter all grades by the deadline, please get in touch with Karen Denton, at 510.642.5042.
What are the policies about assigning I grades, F grades?
In very general terms, you assign an F if
- a student completed all the work but failed
- a student did not complete the work and earned an F
- a student never showed up for class or you do not recognize the name
You can assign a grade of I only if
- the student had circumstances beyond his control that prevented him from finishing the class (must be documented if you request it), and
- the student's work was of passing quality at the time of the request for an Incomplete, and
- you will be available to make arrangements for the student to complete the work.

A student who has been attending regularly is not on my list.
Please submit the grades, as usual, for those students who are on your list.
If the student adds the course later, you will have to write a memo that is submitted with the Change of Class Schedule to either the college or graduate division.
A student is on my list whom I don't know.
This happens fairly often. Please assign an F, NP or U to this student and indicate in the Comments field that the student has never attended your class. Do not assign a grade of Incomplete (I).
I can't make the grade deadline.
