Undergraduate Application for Readmission Information and Instructions

Begin by completing these two forms (Readmission Application AND the Statement of Legal Residence):

 

Who must apply for readmission?

Undergraduate students who:

  • Formally withdrew from the University
  • Were absent for one or more semesters
  • Are returning to UC Berkeley as a limited status student

 

Deadlines and Requirements

Application Deadlines

June 1 for Fall Semester
November 1 for Spring Semester

The process of readmission may take up to four weeks after you submit all required documentation.

Other Deadlines and Requirements

Students returning after a Medical Withdrawal should consult University Health Services (UHS). UHS approval of a Request for Medical Clearance for Readmission Application, which may take up to 30 days, is required before the Office of the Registrar can act upon your Application for Readmission.

College/School-Specific Deadlines and Requirements

Readmission is not guaranteed and the decision ultimately rests with your college or school.  Each college and school has different expectations, deadlines and requirements.  Please consult your college or school for detailed information.

 

Application Instructions

In order for the Office of the Registrar to process your application you must:

  1. Clear all registration blocks.
  2. Submit official transcripts of all coursework taken at another institution—including UC Berkeley Extension—during your absence to:

  3. Complete the Undergraduate Application for Readmission (incomplete applications cannot be processed).
  4. Complete the Statement of Legal Residence (SLR) and attach a copy to your application.
  5. Attach a $70 check or money order for the nonrefundable, nontransferable Readmission Fee. Make your check or money order payable to UC Regents. DO NOT SUBMIT CASH.
  6. Submit your Application for Readmission, SLR, and $70 check or money order in person to Cal Student Central, 120 Sproul Hall or mail it to:

    University Of California, Berkeley
    Berkeley, CA 94720-5404

Alternatively, you may submit your Application for Readmission, SLR, and $70 check or money order payable to UC Regents directly to your college or school if directed above under College/School-Specific Deadlines and Requirements.

 

Changing or Declaring your Major

Please indicate your current major program—or undeclared status—on your Application for Readmission. If you wish to change or declare your major program:
