Change to Policy for fall 2009
For Fall 2009, during Tele-BEARS Phase II, an undergraduate student will not be able to add an additional course if s/he is already enrolled and/or waitlisted in 16 or more units. For example, Doug has 15 units. He submits a request to add a 4.0 unit class that would give him a total of 19.0 units. Tele-BEARS should confirm his enrollment. Rose is enrolled in 16.5 units. She submits a request to add a 4.0 unit class. Tele-BEARS should advise her that the transaction is NOT completed because she had 16 or more units before submitting her request. Again, enrolled and waitlisted units are included in the unit count.
Students will be able to enroll up to the School or College maximum during the adjustment period.
The Council of Undergraduate Deans has approved this change so that as many students as possible can reach full-time enrollment and, perhaps, reduce the number of waitlisted units. The campus has noticed that with more students, increasing demand, and limited supply of courses, more students are having difficulty with attaining minimum units by opening of school, as evidenced by a marked increase in waitlisted units during the last two terms. This change was made to ensure that more students are in at least 12 units by the end of Phase II.
